KOTA KINABALU: A local woman and her two nieces were taken on a scary ride in her own car on Sunday after two unidentified men got into the car and drove it off in front of a supermarket here.
The incident happened when the woman and her nieces were said to be waiting in the Proton Saga car while the boyfriend went to buy some groceries at Tong Hing Supermarket around 9.30pm.
One of the carjackers took the driver’s seat while the other got into the back seat, where the teenage girls were.
The woman’s boyfriend saw the incident and tried to give chase but the carjackers quickly sped off.
The carjackers then dropped the woman, who reportedly sustained facial injuries after putting up a struggle with the carjackers, and her nieces by the roadside at Kolombong Road, near Fook Yuen restaurant, and sped off.
A passer-by who saw the woman and two teenage girls waving for help came to their aid.
A police report was lodged by the victims on the same day.
